Vilas Craig, born in Richland County, Wisconsin, started singing and playing guitar early in life. In 1958, he formed his first band named "The Kollege Kings." The Kollege Kings were one of the first bands to play Rock n' Roll in Wisconsin. In 1959, they recorded and released their first two original songs "Spring Fever" and "My One My Only Love" on a 45 rpm record.
In 1960, Vilas changed the bands name to Vilas Craig & The ViCounts and released several more records.
Quartet from Newark,NJ lead by Frank Racanelli who in 1959 recorded one single on the Jax label with the sides_ That's My Desire/You're In Love.Jax Records.
In 1958 Darron Stankey,Al Candelaria and Larry New have a vocal group in their high scholl in San Fernando Valley in Southern California named The Echoes.when they signed with Andex a subsidiary label of Keen Records(the Sam Cooke's earliest label) invite to Jim West(who sang in the army with a vocal group The Camp Pendleton Stars) to the recording session.
In this supervised by the young Herb Alpert and Lou Asler(they working as trainne producers for Keen) the guys recorded in 1959 the Al and Darron tune_Dee Dee Di Oh. and the Jim tune_Time. but without any success The group broke up soon.(in 1962 Indigo re-leased the Echoe's single as by The innocents).

Al,Darron and Jim reformed as The Innocents(named after their car club) With the help of Gary Paxton of Skip & Flip and The Hollywood Argyles they contacted with Kim Fowley this and Paxton signed the group and send to Indigo Records where recorded _Honest I Do. this side charted #28 in the autumn of 1960.

In the same time Fowley and Paxton sold a side_Tick Tock. to the local label Trans-World Records. At this point paxton and Fowley leave the group and this now was managed by Jim Lee Indigo's producer,the group backed Kathy young's on she hits_A Thousand Stars. and Happy Birthday Blus(see in this blog).
In late 1960 the group scores again #28 with the side_Gee Whiz.

In 1961 they recorde four singles for Indigo but without any success moved to Reprise Records were recorded two singles in 1962-63. in 1963 recorded one single for Decca and another in 1964 for Warner Brothers and finally broke up.

From the 1961 East Coast record session the group have the unreleased sides_Honey Doll / Baby I Don't Care. Finally released in 1980 on Sweden as a single by Jan Records as Don Dell & The Montereys (actually the group was The Up-Stars).
Vocal group from Toronto,Canada. formed in 1953.consisted of Dave Somerville(Lead),Ted Kowalski(Tenor),Phil Leavitt(Baritone),and Bill Reed(Bass).
Recorded for Coral in 1955.debuted on Mercury in Juanary 1956. Michael douglas replaced Leavitt in late 1957, Reed and kowalski replaced in 1959 by Evan Fisher and John Felten and Jim Malone replaced somerville in 1961.

They also were the first to record the Christmas song Boun Natale which was later recorded by Nat King Cole.

Group/band from North Bergen and Bayonne in New Jersey consisted of Bo D’Andrea(Vocal),Eddie Parente(Guitar),Bob Collada(Piano) and Harry Venuta(Drums). In 1959 their manager Chic Salerno obtaining a contract with Bobby Shad of the Shad/Time/Brent Records. This want repeat with the guys the label hits_I’ve Had It. By The Bell Notes and_It Was I. By Skip & Flip.
In the summer of 1959 the group recorded their first disc on the Shad label with the romantic doo wop ballad_Darling Lorraine. And the rock side_Riot In Room 3C. The A Side was very popular locally and Bob Shad moved the record to NewYork for their national distribution and in the late 1959 the mentioned side charted #46 nationally, with a big popularity the group have life perfomances in New Jersey (Seaside,Parrot Club,Luciaanos in Lodi,Lyndhurst...) and New York(Greenwood Lake....).

Club Records-Darling Come Back/My Tears(1956).
In 1955 in Staten Island,Vito Picone 15-years old and their friend Carman Romano player the trombone in their high school but in these days really they want form a vocal group and reunited other kids from their high school band: another trombone man.Ronnie Jones and one girl trumpet player Pat"Cordel"Croccitto.Calling themselves The Crescents,they sang for the fun of it and perform at local church functions and dances.
In 1956 after winning a singing contest, where the 1st prize was a recording contract they signed with Club Records in New York and recorded_Darling Come Back.written by Vito this side is one of the first white doo wop with the kid sound in the style of Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers because Patricia had the high Frankie Lymon sounding voice .The B side_My Tears was composed by the whole group.Pat sang lead on both sides.
The record have some local sucess (later reissued in Michele and Victory Records),resulting in nationwide tours with The Cadillacs,The Five Satins or The Danleers but the youthfulness of the group and the difficulties of traveling around the country with a fifteen-year old girl led to a break up.Pat became one of the June Taylor dancers (Jackie Gleason Show) and the boys soon were know nationally as The Elegants.
This record_A Dream Come True/Dressin' Up. was released in 1962 on Photo Records without Vito Picone hospitalized for months as result of a serious accident. The song_Dressin' Up was written by Artie Venosa and have to Frank Tardogna in the lead voice.

The Bermudas, the Majorettes, the Georgettes,Joanne & the Triangles and Beverly & the Motorscooters: these are just some of the recording appellations used by singer-songwriter-producer-business woman Rickie Page and the female members of her musical family.
She and her omnipresent husband George Motola also ran Troy Records, the original 1964 outlet for 'My Boyfriend' by Becky & the Lollipops, yet another name used by the Page clan. This particular outfit comprised Rebecca (Becky) Page, her older sister Joanna, their mother Rickie and Susie Kuykendoll, Rickie’s sister. Rebecca shared lead vocals with Rickie, whose oldest daughter Sheilah sometimes took her place in photos of the group. In 1957 Rickie Page had begun a stream of recordings using her own name for every label under the California sun, not to mention some in Nashville. She also waxed as a member of the Jordanaires, the Spectors Three and Bobby 'Boris' Pickett’s Crypt-Kickers.
Group from Everett, MA. formed in 1956 (above picture) by Steve Catallo (Bass),Tommy Pascarella (Lead), Johnny Falzone,Tommy Guanci and Ed Rogers.
The group were formed by the fusion of two other groups,The Cresents from the far end of Ferry Street, near the Malden Line, and The Tempos from the area of Orange Court. When the dust settled The Majestics were born.
In 1959 they recorded on the Sioux Label_Lone Stranger/Sweet One.(re-released this same year on the 20th Fox label).This record had a good chance of “breaking out,” as it was beginning to, as they say ”Make some noise” in California, and Twentieth Fox showed some interest in distributing it.The group’s manager, and/or the original label “stalled” a bit in an effort to work a better deal, but this tactic apparently backfired. when they did finally get the rights to distribute the record, initial interest had past.

In the early 60's they changed the name to The Emeralds In this time with new members as John Falzone (from the Spindrifts), Ritchie Steen, Jackie Neider, or Joe DiVirgilio and recorded songs as_ Symbol Of Love/Rose Ann/Two Purple Shadows. but the songs went unnoticed by recording companies.
In 1973 Vintage Records released as THE MAJESTICS the Emerald's demos_Symbol Of Love/Two Purple Shadows.
