LUGEE & THE LIONS...Robbee records

Lugee Alfredo Giovanni Sacco (Lou Christie) from Glen Willard, PA in 1959  at age 15  was a member of the singing group the Crewnecks with Bill Fabec, Wendy Miller and Judy Hoskinson (Lugee's sister, Amy also was in the group) they signed with pianist Twyla Herbert but never recorded (see below picture).


In 1960 Ms. Herbert assambled a vocal group consisted of his daughter Shirley Herbet, Lugee, Kenny Krease and Kay Chick and recorded under the name of The Classics on Starr records ( see in this blog).

In 1961 Lugee have another vocal group know as Lugee & The Lions formed by his sister Amy Sacco, Kay Chick and Bill Fabec they signed with Pittsburgh label Robbee records and recorded...

-The Jury / Little Did I Know. Robbee records-1961.

The A side have a big localradio airplay and good sales.

Finally they did background vocals on a record by Chic Christy (no relation) for Hac records...

 -With This Kiss / My Billet-Doux To You -1961.

Twyla Herbert was the song writing partner of Lou Christie for 30 years and wrote the four songs. Together they wrote hundreds of songs yielding a dozen hits including the no 1 song "Lightin' Strikes" and the hits "The Gypsy Cried", Two Faces of I", and "Rhapsody in the Rain," and "She Sold Me Magic.
