Johnny Sablan from the Mariana's island of Guam moved to southern California, along with his three eldest brothers when his father took a job in the City. The Sablans lived right off of Wilshire and Western Avenues in Los Angeles. Johnny started his career very young and at thirteen he was already a good guitarist and vocalist, he wrote "Will She Agree To Go Steady" which he would record in 1961 for Skykark records with the B side "Big Fat Lie (Not Them)".

The back up group in this recording is by THE BLENDS from Los Angeles managed by Sy Mitchell. in 1960 recorded on Talent Records (re-released in 1961 on Skylark) the sides_Tell Me / The Way I Want You. and consisted of Leonard Lebovitz "Lenny Lee" (Lead), Stan and Barry Fisher (Tenors), Larry Coleman (Bass) and Marsha Raskin (High Tenor).
