THE DOVERS (Apollo Records) - COMPLETE STORY

Anyone know who are the white member of the Dovers on Apollo Records(see below picture).

The first Dover's group were from Harlem.NY. consisted of Miriam Grate(lead),Whyndham"Corky"Porter(Baritone),James Sneed(Bass) and Eddie Quinones(Tenor) with Bob Johnson aka Bobby Robinson as guest Lead.

This formation recorded one single for Apollo Records in March,1955 with the sides_My Angel. by Miriam Grate & The Dovers and the B side_Please Squeeze. as by Bob Johnson & The Dovers

This formation also backed to Lou Bartel's Apollo side_I Pray. and cut some acappella sides as_Your Love,My Love,Only Heavens Knows...

Above The Vocaltones on Apollo Records;front Left Roland Martinez.front right Bobby Johnson. top left Ed Quinones.middle Wyndham Porter.top right Tommy Grate.

In 1956 Wyndham Porter,Eddie Quinones and Bobby Johnson of The Dovers with Miriam brother Tommy Grate and Roland Martinez recorded six sides as THE VOCALTONES on Apollo Records.

This formation backed to Brenda Lee's(not the Decca's white young girl) on his Apollo single_I Ain't Gonna Give Nobody/My Last Goodbye To You.

In 1957 Eddie Quinones join the U.S.A. Air Force where recorded with The Glowtones the sides_The Girl I Love/Ping Pong. for Atlantic's new East West label.

The rest of the Vocaltones with new member Willie Reed recorded two unreleased sides for Gee Records_Answer To My dreams/Come Dance With Me). after this session Martinez,Porter and Johnson with Irving Lee Gail and Bobby Moore recorded in late 1957 the last Vocaltone's single for Juanita Records_Walkin With My Baby/Wanna Lee.

1959 The Dover's back again...

This second formation recorded one single for Joe Davis label_Sweet As A Flower/Boy In My Life. and also cut some acapella tracks.
