THE "early" MARCELS

This Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania interracial group is one of the best and famous group of the Doo-Wop era.

The group consisted of Cornelius"Nini"Harp(Lead),Ronald"Bingo"Mundy(1st Tenor),Gene Bricker(2nd Tenor),Richard Knauss(Baritone) and Fred Johnson(Bass).
Knauss and Bricker were white.

In early 1961 charted number 1 in the Billboard list with their first Colpix Recording_Blue Moon.

In the summer of this same year The Marcel's back to the Billboard list with_Summertime.#78.

In September colpix released another single of the group_You are My Sunshine/Find Another Fool.without success this is the last recording of the original group.

The original Marcels had cut three singles and one LP for Colpix Records by the fall of 1961 six months after their original chart triumph,the group had reorganized and for their next recording_Heartaches. the group was all black.
