Chartbusters were a group based in Washington, D.C. that had a big hit in 1964 with the single "She's The One". The Chartbusters were managed by Bobby Poe and featured lead guitarist Vernon Sandusky from Bobby Poe and The Poe Kats,Vince Gideon(Rhythm Guitar),Johnny Dubas(Bass) and Chib Holmes (Drums). Bobby and Vernon also produced the band, with Vernon singing lead vocals and writing or co-writing most of the group's material. After The Chartbusters broke up in the late 1960's, Vernon joined Roy Clark's band on lead guitar -- a gig he kept for over 20 years. "She's The One" was released in the Summer of 1964 on the Mutual record label. It went on to sell over 750,000 copies, peaking at #33 on Billboard's Singles Chart, while facing fierce competition from the legendary artists of the day. At the time, it was also a #1 record at several radio stations around the country.
