This white girl group started in 1956 as The Medinettes in the Medina High School in the North of Jackson (Tennessee) by L to R;Peggy Laster,Kay Ross,Alice Fly and Julia Graves. they singing in a Pop style close to the Chordettes or the Fontane Sisters.
But in 1957 when signed by Meteor Records this label changed their name to The Velvatones and recorded the girls with a Rock & Roll Vocal Sound(in the label the group is listed as a vocal group) on their sides_Feeling Kinda Lonely/Real Gone Baby.

A second record session for June 1957 was cancelled and Julia Graves and Kay Ross got married. The rest of girls add Marcia Watt and change the group name to The Charmettes but never recorded and by the summer of 1959 the group was broke up.
