LITTLE SAMMY & THE TONES aka LITTLE SAMMY ROZZI & THE TONES

The Tones were a white group from Philadelhia (13th and Wharton) formed by (L to R in the above picture)  Kenny Cubicotti, Larry D'Angelo, Billy Hebert and Jimmy Avachini.

Larry and his school friend Frank Pescatore ( later know musically as Dean Randolph) planed to record one new version of the classic song "Over The Rainbow" for a future recording, Kenny wrote another sons "Christine" and Larry and Frank help added the harmony parts.


The group presented these two sides to Jaclyn records, but before the recording session Larry is called by the army and the group has to recruit a new lead singer, Sammy Rozzi the songs were recorded at the A.M.S. studios in Philadelphia and released in 1962 as Little Sammy & The Tones, the recording have a few of airplay in the Delaware area but deat soon and in the next months the group broke up. In 1963 Pelham records re-released the 45 rpm as Little Sammy Rozzi & The Tones.
