THE ROMANCERS_Don't Let Her Go


Los Angeles chicano band present in the doo wop guides consisted of Ralph Ventura,Manuel Rodriguez, Albert"Bobby"Hernandez,Cesar ?,Max Uballez and Manuel Mosqueda.from the Lincoln High in East Los Angeles.

In 1962 with Max Uballez on lead recorded for Magic Circle Records and after signed with Del-Fi where recorded an all instrumental LP and backed to the Del-Fi’s Heartbreakers(see in this blog).

In 1964 the band recorded for Eddie Davis,Linda label five singles ( those 45’s have a remake of the Etta James-Harvey Fuqua duet _My Hearts Cries. Or _Don’t Let Her Go. And_Lover’s Thing. two popular sides in L.A. area).

Without any success and with the british invasion the band changed their name to The Smoke Rings.

In the 60's these demos sides never were released for a label but in the 80's the group made a private 45 with their unreleased sides.

Band from Toronto,Canada.in Juanary of 1959 moved to New York invited by Dion & The Belmonts Record Company Laurie Recirds to one record session at Bell Sound Studios were they recorded_Runaway/I'm Happy. released in June of 1959 on the Laurie's subsidiay label, Abel Records.

THE DAHILLS (Musicor Records)

White group formed in Brooklyn, NY by three schoolmates of the High School,Eramus Hall; Dennis Lambert (Lead), Ed Lambert (Baritone) and Gordon Bayne (2nd Tenor/Bass). later they added to Joe Cenamo (1st Tenor and 2nd Lead). The group took their name from a neighborhood street, Dahill Road. From 1962 to 1964 they recorded several demos and in 1964 Musicor Records released the sides... --Michelle / Why Do We Have To Say Goodnight.

This disc was produced by the members of another Brooklyn group,The Tokens. After the group disbanded, Dennis Lambert continue in the music bussines as a famous songwritter and record producer. 

Dennis Lambert and his brother written songs as_Why Are The Nights So Cold. Recorded in 1964 by The Riffs on Sunny Records (see in this blog).


The group have two 45 rpm acetates as Dennis & The Dahills...

-Once Upon A Time / I Don't Believe In Fairytales.

-Arelene / Jonie, Please Believe Me. 

 "Arlene" was later wrongly assigned as recorded by The Four Winds (Tokens) and released in a 45 rpm in 1978 for Crystal Ball records.


In the 70's were released the DAHILLS group demos sides... 

 -Do You Want To Go Steady / Please Be My Girl Friend. Released by Clifton Records-1976. 

 -She's My Angel / I Who Love You. Released by Crystal Ball Records-1977.

EXOTIC " DOO WOP"

The FABULOUS ECHOES, a pop group based in Hong Kong in the early 60's. They made several records that were very popular in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia in the early and mid 60's.

The early lineup of The Fabulous Echoes consisted of Tony Ruivivar (leader, guitar), Terry Lucido (keyboards), Stan Robertson (bass), Bert Sagum (vocals, percussions), Cliff Foenander (lead vocals) and Danny Ruivivar (drums, xylophone). Tony, Danny, Bert and Terry were from the Philippines. Cliff and Stan were from Ceylan (Sri Lanka) and Scotland respectively. Their first hit, “A little bit of soap”, stayed No. 1 for several weeks in H.K. in 1964.

They are present in all the US Doowop guides with songs as_Dancing on The Moon/Sunshine/I Never Knew...

Band from Montreal,Canada.Band featured Bob Davies,Rick Munro,Curly Robertson and Emmett McGoogan.

They were present in The Complete Book Of Doo Wop with their two Rama Recordings in 1956_Hole In The Bucket / Rock To The Music and in 1957 as Bob Davis & The Rhythm Jesters_ Never Anymore / She'll Never Know.

THE LAURELS aka THE ECHOES aka THE SCOUNDRELS


THE LAURELS;Harry Boyle,Tom Morrisey,Tommy Duffy,Sam Capano and Willie Bender from Brooklyn NY..
In 1959 they recorded the demo_Baby Blue/Every Dream I Dream.but the group broke up without one recording were made.


When The Laurels disbained Tom Morrisey,Tommy Duffy and Harry Boyle formed the group THE ECHOES they re-recorded_Baby Blue. for Segway Records and have a national Hit in 1961.
After recording two more singles Tom Duffy left the group.


Boyle & Morrisey with a new member Joe Jager signed with Mercury subsidiary label Smash Records and recorded three singles.
In 1965 Jager was replaced by Jimmy Tragas who was the lead singer on the last Echoe's single_I Love Candy.


Boyle,Morrisey,Tragas and a new member Ralph Depalma continued recording throughout the 60's as THE SCOUNDRELLS.
