THE CLASSIC IV aka THE CLASSIC FOUR


White group from Penn and Magnolia streets in Germantown,Philadelphia managed by Artie Singer(of Danny & The Juniors Fame) formed in 1960 by Andy Petruzelli(Lead),John Delagol(1st Tenor),Al Buccini(2nd Tenor) and Bob Camardella(Bass).

In late 1961 Artie recorded some demos (This To Me Is Love/My Mama Told Me... to the group made a new label Twist Records and in 1962 release two of these demos_Island Of Paradise/What Will I Do. under the group name of THE CLASSIC IV.

The A side have a big local popularity and Singer sold 75,ooo copies of this recording.with this demand he decided release other two demos of the group_Please Be Mine/Heavenly Bliss. but finally only pressed 500 copies for the jukebox operators.

After their second single Johnny Delagol Left the group. At this time, the group was managed by Jeanette Carey. An enterprising sort, Jimmy Testa from the Fabulous Four was employed by Crisconi Oldsmobile, where he sidled up to the owner’s daughter, Jeanette Carey, this auditioned Jimmy on the spot and convincing him to join The Classic IV.

They signed a recording contract with Algonquin records, a New Yorl Label and cut two new singles as THE CLASSIC FOUR._Early Christmas/Limbo Under The Christmas Three.relesed in 1962.

Without any success with their new recordings the group finally broke up during the summer of 1963.
