First of all, they weren't white. They were Asians. They were interviewed years ago (I think in the '80s or '90s) on the Don K. Reed show. Apparently, they had all sung before, but mainly with Italian-American guys, and they decided to get together and first the first Chinese-American doo-wop group.
As was said the Cathays was an all Chinese, DooWop singing group, back in the mid 60's. Tommy Lee, Richard Ju and Calvin Ng, are still alive, Gary Lee, passed away. They sang for awhile, at one time sang at a concert at Thompso Square park, on the Lower East side, in NYC. Also, recorded, for recording company called, Downtown record, on Pitt street, NYC. Calvin Ng, is still singing, wth a group called, the Brooklyn Connection.
