Why do Dion & The Belmonts record old songs instead of original songs?


This week  I present another article from 1960 where it is explained why the Dion & The Belmonts group records so many old songs instead of their original songs.

That's a nice article about Dion & The Belmonts singing those ballads when they were on Laurie.
I had a Web page on AOL 20 plus years ago. When the "Complete Dion and the Belmonts" 2 CD set came out, I devoted a whole section of my page, "Delwoodjef's Doo Wop's and More," to that collection. Unfortunately, that web page is long gone, as far as I know. I do have the sub pages and files somewhere. I need to dig them up. There was a commentary about Dion and The Belmonts and how they might have kept on doing those standards in their style that was sort of adopted by The Lettermen.
I'll just have to hunt those files down.
