Group formed in late 1959 in Bridgeport CT. by students from different high schools for Gary DeCarlo (Central High), Dale Frashuer (Roger Ludlowe High) and Paul Leka (Bassick High), they had many personnel changes depending on the availability of singers with their studies, Joe Reed, Johnny Castle (Castlelenetti), Frank Borelli, Norman Zachlod aka Zack Norman, Ronnie Schlrlllo or Bill Garneau were part of the group.
They also had various names for their group such as The Citation, The Chetaus and finally The Glenwoods estranged from a street in Brooklyn, Glenwood Ave. In 1961 they were signed by Jubilee records where they recorded as The Glenwoods the songs "That's The Way It Will Be". /"Elaine” both written by Frank A. Borelli and arranged by Stan Vincent. In 1962, Norman Zachlod as Zack Norman recorded "Hey Doll" (written by Gary DeCarlo) and "Givin' Up Love" (written by Norman). for Poplar Records.

In 1963 the group was known under the name The Chetaus and signed to Coral records to record "Summers Here (School Is Through)" / "Honest I Will".
After this recording the group dissolved, in 1968, Gary with Paul as producer recorded several songs for Mercury records, Leka and DeCarlo resurrected an old song from their days as the Glenwoods, "Kiss Him Goodbye", with their old bandmate, Dale Frasuer. With DeCarlo as lead vocalist, the three musicians recorded the song in one recording session song in one recording session and they released this song under the name of a band, Steam, the song was number #1 at the end of 1969 and stayed on the charts during the year 1970.
