Group formed in 1958 by students from St. Mary's high school in Medford... Oregon, Paul Smith (Lead), Tom Newcomb, Dave Mansfield, Bill Smith, Mike Feiss and Rick Carrara, although the years 1958 to 1961 had many changes of Personally, only Paul Bill and Tom always sang together in the group and depending on the singers they added they sang as a quartet, quintet or trio.
In 1958, they won the finale of the Oregon Jaycees talent show at the Oregon State Fair, opening the doors to a professional audition with Northwest Recorders in Portland and making a guest appearance on a Portland television station.
In 1960 they recorded as the 5 Shadows for Frosty records "Blue Moon" / My Love Bug" the latter written by Paul and this same year they recorded as a quartet under the name of the Shadows "Tell This Lonely Heart Goodbye" /"Wonder Why" made for Dottie records, after this recording nothing was heard from the group.
