DICK & THE HALOS aka THE PRECISIONS aka THE MAGICS aka THE BLUE COUNTS


THEIR COMPLETE STORY.

The story of this group started in 1956 in the Scranton high school in Pennsylvania where Dick Plotkin form part of the vocal group Dick & The Halos. In 1957 they recorded at audiosonics studios brill building NY. the sides_NearYou (Oh I Want To Be)/I Found Love. 100-45's copies were made by Dick new label Debra Records for the purpose of promoting the group with local jukebox operators.

By the early 1959 The Halos were broke up but Dick joined with The Supremes;Mike Lanzo,Don Manzo,Ted Santos and Ken Marsh and the new DICK & THE HALOS group was born.this formation practiced everynight for several months and recorded demos songs as_Sweet Dreams.

In the early 1960 Dick & The Halos auditioned with Jim Gribble manager of The Mystics and The Passions,he contracted the group for a six months but Jim never recorded the group and this met up with Nick Quasito former singer of The Colts and manager of The Teenagers.Nick change the group name to THE PRECISIONS and in 1962 the guys recorded for Strand Records the sides_Dream On/You Can't Play Games. without any success.

In 1962 the group recorded on Debra Records the sides_Sweet Dreams/Stop Leading Me On. in this record session Little Anthony & The Imperials helpin with the vocal background.In 1963 recorded the Monotone's tune_You'll Never Love Me. under the title of_Chapell Bells. but Debra only released 100-DJ copies under the group name of THE PALISADES.the side have a great DJ demmand and the label re-recorded the song(in this time with Bells) and re-released the single with the B side_She Can't Stop Dancing. but under the group name of THE MAGICS.

-Chapell Bells. charted # 3 in Philadelphia and have a big demmand in New York and New Jersey.in this time the group back up to artists as Tommy Genova(see in this blog) to Jo Jo Vitale in the side_Little Cinderella. or to the female group The Gales(see in this blog).

In late 1963 Paulette Costa lead singer of The Gales join the group and this recorded new demos as_A Night To Remember/Bong Bong/Oh Rosemarie. or the original tune_Whole World In My Arms.

In 1964 songwritter Spike Butash give to Mike Lanzo a song_At The Fair. and the Magics recorded this on Debra Records in 1964 with the B side_Ghost Two. under the group name of MIKE LANZO & THE BLUE COUNTS (The Blue Counts were the instrumental band).

In 1964-65 when the uncle sam called to members of the group this broke up but in 1991 they back to the doo wop circuit.
