I receive this informtion from Belair's member Dick Laurey...
Hello White...., I'm Dick Laurey, drummer for the Bel Airs, of the early 60's. Ran across your site this evening. This group was actually a rock band, and, our playbook had many ballads, sung between pop and rock instrumentals. All members were from Utica, N.Y. Most of the members were from an earlier group called The Plaids, who also recorded vocals and instrumentals for N.Y. labels. Because most of us were of Italian descent, many of our tunes were covers of Louie Prima/Sam Butera songs. The vocals gave us, and the club patrons, a chance to rest, between the rock numbers. The song has flaws, of course, but, we were young, and riding the popularity of early rock (post Bill Haley), and, the doo wop thing. Glad you appreciate our early efforts. I have a copy of this record, plus, many more from the late 50's thru early 60's- small companies recording the popular, regional groups from upstate N.Y., and also, the city. Best regards, Dick Laurey, now of Portland, Oregon
