The Carmelettes were a Jersey City,N.J. italian girl trio consisted of Angela "Murphy" LaPrete,Vicky Cevetello and Virginia Verga.the girls took their name from the lady of St. Carmel Church.
The group was managed by songwriter and arranger Beatrice Verdi(Virginia's sister) who send the group to back up Neil Sedaka's on his 1958 hit "Oh Carol" on RCA Records.

Neil send the group to Alpine Records a subsidiary label of Epic Records where the trio recorded two own records,in 1959_My Foolish Heart/Promise Me A Rose. and in 1960_Aching For You/Something Tells Me I'm In Love.

In 1960 The Carmelettes back up to Carol King's on his answer song "Oh Neil" to "Oh Carol" of Neil Sedaka.
