THE MARKEYS aka THE LONELY ONES

In 1957 George Francis Morton wanted to form a vocal group on Long Island, New York and to do so he convinced his friends Marty Monaco, Tonny Giannatasio, Victor Eusepi and Sal DiTroia. Marty's mother has a small recording studio in Nearby, Levittown where the group spends hours practicing and recording their own songs and performing at local events which introduced them to a record producer who sent them to the RCA Records studios where the group  record in the summer of 1958 "Hot Rod / Yakkaty Yak". as The Markeys featuring Georgie Morton (he's just 16 at this time).

RCA takes advantage of Georgie's talent as a writer and an artist of his, Sal Mure records some of his songs, at the end of 1958 they recorded his second single for RCA "A Time To Love / Make a Record, Man".

In 1959 the group signed for Sir records where they would record "I Want My Girl / My Wish" under the name The Lonely Ones (this recording was reissued on the Baton label). Without much success the group broke up and George Francis "Shadow" Morton became a record producer, writer gaining much fame in the 1960's especially in the girl group circuit.
